Cottage-style decorating for spring
Cottage-style decorating is the perfect look for spring — fresh, cheery and kick-off-your-shoes comfortable. Here are some easy ideas from the April and May/June issues of Cottage Living magazine for bringing a little cottage style into your non-cottage home:• Put your stamp on purchased lampshades by gluing grosgrain ribbon around the edges.
• Add plenty of throw pillows. Stripes and florals of all shapes and sizes work together if they share the same background color.
• Hang children’s artwork to add color and sentiment to a room.
• Turn inexpensive chests and dressers into playful accents by painting them in wide vertical stripes.
• Dress up a plain corkboard by covering it in ribbons in various colors, arranged vertically over the surface stapled in place at the ends.
• Use removable decals to brighten a room instantly, without a long-term commitment.
